Performeurs, leur art se situe dans la rue et exprime toujours un point de vue politique. Ila affirment que le rôle de l’artiste est de créer un nouveau langage politique, qu’un artiste sans discours politique est en fait un designer. Que les changements de sociétés ne peuvent s’opérer que par les artistes.
j’sais pas trop quoi en penser. Je tente d’y réfléchir, mais ma migraine me porte plus à focusser sur l’action d’une advil sur mon cerveau que sur le rapport de l’artiste à la société….ni de cette question nébuleuse: qu’est- ce que l’art?

On the night of June 14, 2010 in St. Petersburg, on the Che Gevara birthday, the Voina group painted the Dick, 65 m high and 27 m wide, on the Liteiny Bridge before it rose. At 1 a.m. the bridge started opening up, and the huge Cosmic Dick stood up just opposite the main building of the KGB in St. Petersburg. The activists painted the Dick in 23 seconds, while running and fighting with the bridge security. The paint was poured from the cans onto the bridge roadway.
Alex Plutser-Sarno, the Voina activist, defined the genre of the action as a “sketch in the open air” or a “street sketch”. Alex proclaimed that the Dick was turned on not only by the main KGB office, but by the whole hierarchy of power in Russia. And it also was a protest against the heightened security measures expected at the International Economic Forum, held from June 17 in Saint Petersburg, the hometown of both Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.The entry about this action in plucer’s LiveJournal (the main information source of the group) was banned by the moderators (http://plucer.livejournal.com/259696.html). At the point of suspension there were about 3 thousand comments and a half a million views of this entry. At the same time the You Tube video of the action was closed. It had about 300 thousand views at that moment.

Curator Andrey Erofeev invited VOINA to participate in the exhibition «Lettrism» in Central House of Artist. The CHA administration demanded censorship restrictions for the group’s stand. VOINA refused and made a spontaneous action «No to oppressors of Sots Art», directed against the exhibition’s pogrom. After that the administration called police and set CHA security service on the group. The group was beaten and handed to police.

VOINA stormed Russia’s parliament on the night of 6/7 November – the day of the 91st anniversary of the October Revolution and the 120th birthday of Nestor Makhno. The group fired world anarchy symbol – 40-meters high skull and bones – onto the White House facade through a laser gun. The action went under the slogans: «Art belong to people», «When there is freedom, there will be no State» and others.Before the action A. Plutser-Sarno said: «We believe that a new actual art should find its new language. White House is the best canvas for an artist. Skull and bones on White House is a warning to the government, that anarchy is an inevitable reaction to the politics of xenophobia and genocide. Jolly Roger hints that Russian nation is dying out while nouveaux riches are rolling in luxury.
